FAQ Friday: Location! Location! Location!

Friday October 7, 2011

This weeks FAQ Friday question comes from one of our rockingest brides of 2010, Kim Fennessey.

Q:Where is the coolest place you ever shot a wedding?

A: That’s easy. There are a couple places that really make me say wow. For ceremonies, my favorite churches would have to be the Cadet Chapel at the United States Military Academy at West Point. It is ENOURMOUS!!! Add to the fact that it is THE church to get married in if you can even get in, they have a waiting list that goes on for days. I love the gothic architecture and the sheer size of it. Here are a couple photos from some of our West Point weddings in the cadet chapel.

As far as venues are concerned. There is one that totally blew me away. The coolest venue I’ve ever shot at was at Gotham Hall in NYC. O.M.G. This place is gorgeous. Take a look at some of these photos.

As far as bridal photography is concerned, we will shoot anywhere and everywhere. It doesn’t matter where we are, all that matters is that our couple enjoy’s themselves. That is absolutely key to getting great photos of our couples. However it is always good to schedule time for your bridal photos in your wedding day timeline. Two hours is the magic number. I’ll touch more on this on another FAQ Friday post.

Have a great weekend everyone and don’t forget to send your questions to info@jcastrophotography.com or write it on our Facebook fan page wall. Everyone who sends in a question will be entered into a random drawing for a cool prize at the end of each month. This month’s prize is a $50 Amazon.com gift card. So get to asking!!!

Georgia Aquarium: Some fun with my family

posted in Family,Personal,Travel,Weddings

Wednesday October 5, 2011

Between holding down a full time job, running a business full time, being a dad of two amazing kids, and a husband whose Honey-do list seems to grow exponentially everyday, I always make a point to spend time with the three people that mean the most to me in this world.

Audrey had to fly to Atlanta to attend what I always call a brainiac convention. And instead of being stuck at home with the kids for a couple days we decided to tag along with her. Although me and the two knuckleheads spent a whole lot of time in the hotel room, we did take a day to spend at the Georgia Aquarium. Addi has always had a fascination with sea life and we’ve always tried to take her to an aquarium whenever we travel. I must say, the Georgia Aquarium is hands down, the awesomest places of it’s kind… ever.

The moment we walked in, I had wished I had brought my trusty Canon 1D mkiii with me. But, the G11 did a decent job in that dark building… Not bad for a point and shoot.

The loves of my life. These three are why I live and breathe.

You know what the best part of this place was? Well as a wedding photographer, I’m always looking for amazing places to shoot a bride and groom. And just my luck the Georgia Aquarium has it’s own ballroom to host weddings and other events.

So listen up Atlanta brides!

If you are getting married at the Georgia Aquarium, I will shoot your wedding for free. That’s right. Free. 8 hours of coverage, just cover travel expenses for me and my associate. Go to the contact tab on this blog and send me your wedding day info now!!! I’m only offering this to one lucky couple. What are you waiting for???
