Oh yes it is!
Here’s a question submitted by a good friend of mine from high school back in San Diego.
Hey Jay, who the heck is this J. Castro person? Your last name is Batoon!
In a nutshell, I am J. Castro. No, it’s not some fancy foo-foo name I came up with. Although I must say it does have a certain upper crust spanish conquistador sound to it <antonio banderas voice> I am J. Castro, I am here to conquer jor wedding and to fotograf it very well. May I interest joo in some nasonex? </antonio banderas voice> .
Castro is my mothers maiden name and my middle name. All my life, people I meet absolutely slaughter my last name which is an indigenous filipino name. And unlike most filipino names, it’s relatively easy to pronounce. It’s pronounced buh-toon, and rhymes with such things as; ballon, baboon, cartoon, pontoon, platoon… you get the idea. So to save my clients the embarrassment of pronouncing my name incorrectly I chose to use my middle name.
So that’s where J. Castro comes from.
Here’s a picture of me from back in high school rockin doing my Wanye from Boyz II Men look. Dig the stache =)
That’s FAQ Friday for this week. Stay tuned next week for more. Don’t forget, if you have a question, any question, send us an email at
